MENTAL HEALTH
SUPPORT GROUPS
BEHIV’s support groups address the critical needs for persons living with HIV and AIDS to talk openly and honestly with other people who are also living with this disease. This kind of peer support helps reduce isolation and encourages people to share resources and strategies for coping.
All of BEHIV’s support groups are facilitated by trained mental health professionals. Currently, BEHIV offers an ongoing closed support group for persons living and HIV and self-esteem and a peer-led group assisting those living with HIV/AIDS and dealing with substance abuse issues. A new support group, focusing on issues facing women and HIV, will begin in the Spring of 2008.
For more information about these groups or others, contact us at 847.475.2115 extension 125.
