MENTAL HEALTH
ART THERAPY
Art Therapy uses art to explore personal issues related to HIV/ AIDS. BEHIV’s Art Therapist, Dan Anthon, is a Registered Art Therapist (ATR) as well as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.
Services are offered at the Creative Arts Therapy Studio in Evanston. Established in 1996, the studio serves adults, adolescents and children in a supportive and encouraging environment, helping individuals to cope with a wide range of emotional issues, through group and individual sessions. Permission to create and learning how to respect one's own creations are the cornerstones of the studio.
Carol Mendelson has been a volunteer with BEHIV's Art Therapy program for many years. In honor of her son, Steve, Carol maintains a webpage showcasing artwork created by HIV+ individuals. You can view this art at www.artandhiv.org
